Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

Terms of Service
1. Acceptance
By using MidiQ ("the Service"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
MidiQ is a web-based MIDI editor for Behringer BCR2000 and BCF2000 controllers. The Service is provided "as is" and may be updated, modified, or discontinued at any time.
3. Accounts
You can create an account with an email address and password, or sign in via Google. If you use Google Sign-In, you also agree to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and must not share access with others. You must provide accurate information when registering.
4. One-Time Payment
Pro features are unlocked by a one-time payment — there is no recurring subscription. Once purchased, you retain access for as long as the Service is available. We reserve the right to discontinue the Service at any time; we will provide reasonable advance notice when possible. No refunds are issued upon service discontinuation, account deletion, or for any unused access period.
5. User Content
Preset configurations and MIDI data you create remain your property. We do not claim ownership of your content. You grant us a limited license to store and transmit your content solely to provide the Service.
6. Acceptable Use
You may not use the Service for any unlawful purpose, attempt to compromise its security, or interfere with other users' access.
7. Limitation of Liability
MidiQ is provided without warranty. We are not liable for any damage to your MIDI hardware, data loss, or other damages arising from use of the Service. Always back up your device presets before transferring data.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these terms. You may delete your account at any time, which will permanently remove your data.
Privacy Policy
1. Data We Collect
- Account data: Email address and display name. Local accounts store a bcrypt password hash; Google accounts store a Google OAuth ID and profile picture URL instead.
- Preset data: MIDI configurations, bank names, and preset names you create.
- Settings: Your MIDI port preferences and device ID.
- Session data: A session cookie to keep you logged in.
- Analytics data: Anonymised page visits and usage patterns collected via Google Analytics.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your data solely to provide the Service: storing your presets, authenticating your session, and saving your preferences. We do not sell, share, or rent your data to third parties.
3. Data Storage
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Sessions are stored server-side and expire after 30 days of inactivity.
4. Cookies
We use a session cookie (bcr2000.sid) for authentication. We also use Google
Analytics, which sets its own cookies to collect anonymous usage data (pages visited, session
duration, device type). No personally identifiable information is included in analytics
data.
5. Third-Party Services
If you choose to sign in with Google, Google's OAuth service processes your login and we store only your Google user ID, name, and profile picture URL. We also use Google Analytics to understand how the Service is used — this data is anonymised and governed by Google's Privacy Policy. No MIDI data is shared with Google.
6. Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. Deleting your account permanently removes all presets, banks, and settings.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
